This is very natural that Attention of human Mind never remain in a certain place where you intent to keep it. Suddenly, you become aware that Attention of the Mind is not there. This is a natural experience for all human being. If bring back Attention intentionally or forcefully, Attention again shift or move. In most of the time the Mind is absolutely not aware of Attention also. Being aware of Attention right at the moment is very important factor for Attention to be in the Present Moment. If the Attention bring back Mindfully, that can get the Mind to use to be of such new pattern of behavior. But, the question arise, how to bring back Attention Mindfully?

What is meant by Attention?:

Fixing the Mind by utilizing the power of the Mind on something or any particular point or areas which usually occurs or happens right at the Present Moment. In fact, Attention is the ability of the Mind that naturally happens.

According to the Wikipedia Attention. Attention is the behavioral and cognitive process of selectively concentrating on a discrete aspect of information, whether consider subjective or objective, while ignoring other perceivable information. William James (1890) wrote that “attention is the taking possession of the Mind, in clear and vivid form, of one out of what seem several simultaneously possible objects or trains of thoughts. Focalization, concentration, of consciousness are of its essence.”. Attention has also been described as the allocation of limited cognitive processing of resources.

It is like that if no Attention of the Mind is there, the Mind can’t understand anything very clearly & deeply of a particular issue or subject or situation, etc. In fact, such Attention usually arise in the Mind in the Present Moment while the Mind is experiencing anything either physically or mentally, within the Mind or out of the Mind.

Of Couse, ability of Attention also depends on the ability of the Mind & that also vary individual to individual.

What is menat by Mindfulness?:

Mindfulness sis the ability of the Mind to be remaining in the Present Moment or to bring back its attention in the Present Moment by being aware that such Attention is not in the Present Moment.

According to Wikipedia. Mindfulness is the practice of purposely bringing one’s attention in the present moment without evaluation, a skill one develops through meditation or through other training. Mindfulness drives from Sati, a significant element of Buddhist tradition.

As stated on Wikipedia, it is clearly indicating that Mindfulness  can develop through Meditation or some other form of training which are related to the Mind so that the Mind can cultivate or develop such ability to bring back its Attention to the Present Moment purposely. Of course, it takes ample time, efforts & patience of an individual to cultivate or develop Mindfulness in the Mind.

Now, lets move thow to bring back Attention Mindfully step by step.

Mind is a natural creation that works naturally:

The fact is that the Mind is a natural creation. Being a natural creation, the Mind always acts or functions in a natural way. No other external force can do any impact over such natural activities. Even intentionally try to bring back Attention or changing the direction of Attention to other ways, it might work for a while. But, again, the Mind go back to its ow natural way to act or function.

Whatever the activities & abilities of the Mind like Awareness, Focus, Attention, Observation, thoughts, feelings, emotions, etc., that a human being experience moment to moment, all are the natural creation of the Mind. There are inherently associated with the Mind. All these are not coming from outside of the Mind rather being created in the Mind by itself.

As the Mind is a natural creation, obviously, functions or activities of the Mind always be in a natural way. This is the reality that no one to ignore. Hence, let the Mind to be in a natural way where a natural momentum always remain in the Mind and let the MInd functions naturally.

Be aware of Attention that arise in the Present Moment:

Awareness plays a very significant role in all aspects of human understanding that experience either physically or mentally moment to moment. If the Mind is not aware at all, in fact, the Mind can not pay attention to get clear understanding. if the Mind is in lack of awareness or not aware of anything at all, in that case, the Mind is either getting to pay attntion too little or not attention at all.

Understanding the fact, let the Mind be aware of Attention right at the moment. If Attention is right in the Present Moment, let the Mind be aware of such Attention that is right in the Present Moment. This is no surprise at all that Attention might shift either in the Past or in the Future also. This is natural as the Mind is a natural creation & that acts or functions naturally. If Attention of the Mind is in the Past right now, let the Mind be aware that Attention of the Mind is in the Past right now. If Attention of the Mind is in the Future, let the Mind be aware that Attention is in the Future.

Attention moves or shifts like one place to another place, one area to another area. It is like a randomly movement where no direction is there at all. Being natural creation, the Mind, always functions like such free movement. Let Attention go naturally where the Mind naturally move or shift such Attention. Only be aware where is Attention right at the Present Moment. No matter whether Attention is here or there, in the past or in the future or in the present, etc., only be aware of Attention where it is right at the moment.

Observe Attention moment to moment Mindfully without any judgement:

Being aware of Attention right at the moment no matter whether such Attention is in the Present or in the Past or in the Future, let the Mind to observe. If the Mind is in a certain place right now, suddently, Attention might move or shift. Only observe movement to moment mindfully where Attention is right at the moment. Let the Mind be away from any kind of judgement like why Attention is moving, why Attention is not here, why Attention is not being back where it was few moments ago, etc. Let Attention to remain in a natural way to happen or occur.

As the mind is aware of attention, that means, the Mind understand where such Attention is right at the moment. Follow Attention mindfully by being aware of Attention & keep observe Attention right at the moment without any judgement. In this situation, the Mind is like an Observer of Attention by being aware of Attention that is right at this moment. That means, awareness follow Attention & observation also takes place where no judgement is over such Attention.

It is like a job of Gatekeeper who is observing the Gate silently & watching or observing who is going in & who is going out through the Gate & not asking anything & not doing anything. Only open eyes to observe whether no question or no intergotaton or not identifying, etc. Only watching, not more tan that.

As the Mind is only observing Attention being aware of it, not doing any judgement, the Mind is totally not moving to other direction except observing Attention. Being aware & observation, the Mind naturally able to understand Attention which is the creation of the Mind that naturally flows. No matter wherever Attention moves, that means the Mind moves. No matter whether the Mind shifts, Attention also shifts or moves. The Mind understand that Attention is totally integrated with the Mind.

Hence, let the Mind be aware of Attention mindfully moment to moment & observe Attention without any judgement, so that the Mind can understand the true or real nature of Attention. Once the Mind understand or realize the true or real nature of Attention moment to moment with Mindfulness, the Mind naturally get used to aware & observe attention for more sustainable manner.

Let the Mind bring back Attention mindfully in the Present Moment:

As the Mind is aware of Attention right at the moment & observing such attention moment to moment, let the Mind bring back Attention to the Present Moment gently. Be away of forcing to bring back Attention. Be away to insist over the Mind to back to the Present Moment. Let the Mind be naturally & gently be back by being aware of Attention that is not in the Present Moment.

In Mindfulness, the Mind is always Mindful moment to moment. As the Mind is getting used to bring back Attention to the Present Moment while aware of Attention that is not in the present Moment, its is repeating the same job again & again. In such case, the Mind is being cultivated or developed naturally & gradually to be Mindful moment to moment.

It is not unusual that Attention move or shifts moment to moment from the Present Moment. It might go to the Past or in the Future. It is here right & there after a while. In fact, Attention also has tendency to wander or move moment to moment. As Attention is a natural creation of the Mind & the Mind is also a natural creation, no external force or mechanism can do anything over there. This is real nature of the Mind & Attention that is from the Mind too.

No matter how many times Attention shifts or moves from the Present Moment, let the Mind only be aware & observe right at the moment. Once the Mind is naturally aware that Attention is not in the Present Moment, let the Mind be back its Attention naturally. Being in such reptation of bring back Attention again & again, naturally the Mind creates a new behavioral pattern & keep continue to follow the same so that the Mind can bring back attention mindfully & naturally.

Lete the Mind be away to resist or force over itself to bring back Attention:

It is not unusual to see that many people has tendency to force or insist the Mind to bring Attention to the Present Moment. Even has tendency to alter or replace thoughts by other thoughts. This is not uncommon scenario. Of course, its might work for a short while. But, again the Mind go back to its own natural way. Why the Mind again go back to its own way?

The fact is that, the mInd is a natural creation & it always functions or acts its own natural way. No external force like insisting or forcing or resisting., etc. can sustain at all or can stop the Mind to act its own way. The Mind is like Spring in the forest which has been created naturally. If water flow of spring face any obstacles on the away of flowing, naturally, water moves in different direction. Even it might move over such obstacle on the path.

In case of insisting or resisting r forcing to bring back Attention, the Mind naturally be away from Mindful awareness. In such case, there is always possibility is there to Mind starts to get wild & Attention keep continue to move here & there & the Mind become absolutely not ware of Attention. Even the Mins might starts to get engage of such wildness & try to figure out by doing judgement. In such situation, there might have frequent thoughts starts to come out from the Mind related or unrelated to such sudden break of natural momentum.

Hence, let the Mind be in the natural momentum where free flow of movement of the Mind is there and bring back Attention Mindfully by being aware of Attention right at the moment.

The Mind is Mindful right at the Moment to understand Attention:

Everything in this universe is momentary. A continuous process of changing moment to moment always is there. No matter of the Materials of this universe, even the Mind itself is also changing as well the physical entity of the human being. Nothing is consistent. This is the real or true nature for both the Mind as well the Matter.

That means, what the Mind is experiencing, that is happening right at the moment. What the Mind is understanding by experiencing right at the moment, is also happening in a parallel process. Even it look constant, but, everything is in a continuous movement or change.

In this reality, Attention, Awareness, Mindfulness, etc., what the Mind is entraining or arising to keep understanding everything, all are happening also right at the moment. Of course, all these are alsos in the same movement or change in the continuous process.

Hence, let the Mind be Mindful right at the moment & let the Mind to Mindful to be aware of Attention & observe such Attention Mindfully right at the moment.

Impermanence is the core nature of the Mind & also the Matter. In fact, everything is constantly in a change arena. No matter what a human being ccan see visually in this Universe or invisible thing though physical eye vision, everything is continuously changing moment. It is like standing on a moving belt.

What the Mind is experiencing everything right at the moment is not also static. The Mind is changing & the phenomena also changing. In the state of continuous change, human Awareness, Attention, Mindfulness, etc., are also in changing or moving continuously.

Being in this reality, let your Mind to be aware of Attention & observe such Attention Mindfully right at the moment & bring back Attention Mindfully while being aware that such attention is not in the Present Moment. Let the Mind be Mindful moment to moment & let it be aware of Attention that notice moment to moment & bring back by being Mindfulness while the Mind itself aware that such Attention is not in this moment.
