Why your Attention should move naturally in Mindfulness? This question always arise when it comes to Attention Shifting or movement of Attention. Should Attention be controlled or let it flow naturally. What are the reasons behind all these? In fact, they are interrelated. Right?
It is no doubt that attention plays a vital role for life in every moment. In fact, without attention, human being can’t understand the true nature of anything properly. No matter of any topic or any situation or any external activities or even inner understating, obviously attention is needed. If any lack of attention or poor attention or no attention at all, of course, there is an effect of understanding the true or real nature of anything.
As attention is a natural ability of the Mind, it varies individual to individual. As a result, in real life, we can observe that some people have very strong attention, some peoples have poor or less attention. This is very natural as attention power absolutely depend on the ability of the individual’s Mind. In Mindfulness, the Mind naturally be able to cultivate or develops its ability of attention, which is more sustainable. The most amazing fact of Mindfulness that, the Mind can observe its attention and also be able to bring back attention at anytime when it is needed. How to observe your attention in Mindfulness? Is it really possible to observe attention by the Mind where attention is being created by the Mind?
What is meant by Attention?:
Fixing the Mind by utilizing the power of the Mind on something which usually occurs or happens at this Present Moment. In fact, Attention is the ability of the Mind that naturally works.
According to the Wikipedia Attention. Attention is the behavioral and cognitive process of selectively concentrating on a discrete aspect of information, whether consider subjective or objective, while ignoring other perceivable information. William James (1890) wrote that “attention is the taking possession of the Mind, in clear and vivid form, of one out of what seem several simultaneously possible objects or trains of thoughts. Focalization, concentration, of consciousness are of its essence.” attention has also been described as the allocation of limited cognitive processing of resources.
It is like that if no Attention is there, that means the Mind is not there at all. In that cases, the Mind is absolutely not aware of such particular purpose or topic or subject or situation or, in fact, anything the Mind is not at that moment where the attention needed to take place. Such situation is not uncommon. Everyone usually experiences as the Mind works or moves its own way.
What is Mindfulness in brief?:
Mindfulness sis the ability of the Mind to be remaining in the Present Moment or to bring back its attention in the Present Moment when the Mind itself is aware that attention is not in the Present Moment. . According to Wikipedia. Mindfulness is the practice of purposely bringing one’s attention in the present moment without evaluation, a skill one develops through meditation or through other training. Mindfulness drives from Sati, a significant element of Buddhist tradition.
As stated on Wikipedia about Mindfulness, you can find that it is clearly indicating that Mindfulness can develop through Meditation or some other form of training which are related to the Mind so that the Mind can cultivate or develop such ability to bring back its Attention to the Present Moment purposely. Of course, the Mind can bring back its Attention to the Present Moment when the Mind is aware that attention is not there in the Present Moment.
Based on the above understanding about attention & Mindfulness, let’s examine why your Attention should move naturally.
The Mind is a natural creation that always acts naturally:
The reality is that the Mind is a natural creation associated with the human being. As the Mind is a natural creation, obviously, activities of the Mind occurs naturally. In fact, no external force can stop the Mind to from such natural activities. The Mind always act or move its own way.
As the Mind is a natural creation & that act naturally, obviously, Attention of the Mind moves naturally too. Basically, Attention is the ability of the Mind and such ability also happens from the Mind naturally. In that case, Attention is totally depending of the Mind to apply its ability so that the Mind can fix or apply Attention on a particular point in the Present Moment.
Being a natural creation, obviously, the Mind always act or move naturally & that is the real nature of the Mind. Obstructing on such natural activities like Attention, is also to create obstacle or intervention on Attention. As a result, let your Mind act naturally where Attention arise or the Mind can apply Attention naturally that applies in Mindfulness.
Insisting or forcing can stop the Natural Moment of Attention of the Mind in Mindfulness:
Forcing or insisting over a natural creation always have an impact on natural flow of such creation. The Mind is also not out of such impact when insist or force apply over the Mind. In case any force or insist apply on the Mind, obviously, it is going to impact on attention of the Mind too. In such case, natural flow of Attention disrupt and natural momentum of Attention suddenly stop for while. Thus, lead the Mind to shift Attention in other directions.
Of course, such shifting of Attention not only impact over Attention, but impacts over the Mind too as Attention is associated with the Mind. Once natural momentum of Attention get disrupted, Attention starts to wander or shifts or move here & there. In such situation, the Mind can’t properly apply Attention on a particular focal point where it supposes to be.
If Attention naturally happens or flows, that means the natural momentum of Attention remains in the Mind. In such situation, the Mind naturally flow its Attention and such Attention also move to anywhere which totally depends on the Mind.
Hence, let the Mind to naturally flow its Attention in Mindfulness.
Awareness always follow Attention in Mindfulness:
In Mindfulness, the Mind has the ability to be aware of its own activities & movement. No matter whether the Mind is in the Present Moment or in the Past or in the Future, the Mind is always aware of its movement of Attention. If the Mind is here, the Mind is aware that its Attention is here. If the Mind is wandering in the Past or in the Future or even in the Present, the Mind is totally aware of its Attention.
No matter wherever Attention moves, the Mind is always aware of Attention. In fact, Awareness always follow Attention wherever it remains. As awareness always follow Attention, the Mind is totally aware of its Attention in the Present Moment, while Mindfulness remains in the Mind.
The Mind can observe its activities & movement by using Attention in Mindfulness:
In Mindfulness, Attention always flow naturally. As Attention flow naturally, the Mind can observe or watch its own activities or movement as well any other activities that are related to outside the Mind, the Mind can understand clearly. In fact, without Attention of the Mind, human being not able to understand anything in depth. It is very common when human being experience too little or almost no understanding when too little or no Attention apply by the Mind. This experience very human being has in life. No one is out of this reality. What about your experience?
The key focus of Mindfulness is to let the Mind act or move naturally, where the Mind always in the natural flow or natural momentum. If the Mind is not in the natural movement, obviously, the Mind itself be not able to understand the true or real nature of itself as well its own creations & abilities. The Mind can only be able to understand the true or real nature when Attention flows naturally in Mindfulness:
In Mindfulness, the Mind can understand its own activities, creations, movement or even whatever it comes to the notice of the Mind when Attention flows naturally. By being aware of anything like thoughts, emotions, section, sound, smell, etc., whatever the Mind notice through physically & mentally, the Mind can observe deeply to understand the true or real nature. In that case, Attention plays a significant role. If the Mind is not Attentive or Attention is no there, the Mind can’t get the true or real nature. To uncover the real or true nature, Attention is needed.
If too little or no Attention is there while observing by being aware of anything, the Mind either get too little understanding or no understanding at all. Of course, to understand anything very deeply that can help to uncover the real or true nature, total Attention of the Mind must be taken in place. Otherwise, the Mind can only get surface level of understand, which never represent the true or real nature of anything.
Even the Mind is aware, but Attention is not there, obviously the Mind can’t be able to uncover the real nature. That means, without Attention, the Mind also not be able to find out the true or real nature of anything, only with Awareness. Hence, both Awareness & Attention both move together when the Mind has such ability in Mindfulness.
In order to understand the true or real nature of the Mind itself as well anything that the Mind notice by being aware, Attention should flow naturally in Mindfulness.
Attention moves is very natural in Mindfulness:
The true attributes of Mindfulness is always let the Mind act or move its own natural way where natural momentum o r rhythm of the Mind always remain natural. Once the Mind is in natural momentum, Attention always flow naturally. In fact, it is like free flow of Attention.
There is no intervention or resistance over the Mind that might impact over the natural flow of Attention. Mind acts or moves it own way. Obviously, this is very natural that natural creation always act naturally. As the Mind is a natural creation, obviously, Attention is also a natural entity of such natural Mind. Isn’t it?
Being in Mindfulness, the Mind always remain in its own natural momentum where Attention also flow naturally. As a result, the attributes or beauty of the natural Mind always remain natural.
Hence, it is always let the Mind as well attention of the Mind to flow naturally. Understanding the natural creation, let Attention of the Mind flow naturally in Mindfulness, where natural momentum or rhythm always remain as natural.
The Mind can bring back its Attention when it flow naturally in Mindfulness:
The Mind has the ability to bring back its Attention in Mindfulness. Bringing back Attention of the Mind is a unique attribute of the Mind when Mindfulness is there. If Attention not flow naturally, the Mind in fact is in distractions. In such case, the Mind always face difficulties to bring back its Attention as in distraction, the Mind wanders randomly where no direction is there at all. In such case, the Mind is not aware of Attention at all.
Attention flows naturally while in Mindfulness, the Mind is absolutely aware of attention, and it can bring back Attention to the Present Moment by being aware & notice that Attention is not in the Present Moment. It means that the Mind can apply its abilities or power to bring back its Attention where the Mind observe Attention that naturally flow.
Hence, in Mindfulness, Attention always flow naturally & you should allow Attention to flow naturally so that Mindfulness always remain in the Mind.
The true beauty of natural creation always remain when it remains as natural. Insisting or forcing always impact over such natural beauty, where true attributes remain as natural. This also applicable for the Mind which is a natural creation. A Attention is the natural power or ability of the Mind from a natural creation, obviously, Attention is also a natural creation of such natural Mind.
Understanding the Mind as natural creation as well Attention of the Mind too, let the Mind be natural flow of Attention in Mindfulness where the Mind naturally be able to cultivate or develop its ability of Attention to bring back to the Present Moment more efficiently.
